CAULDRON OF AMOR
For L
Let it be new and let it live;
Let it be fed with celestial fire;
Let it arrive & flourish & dwell
In our earthly home: come
Place your hand in mine and conspire
With me to begin the preparation:
We will need fruit, wine, nuts
Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, hope,
The stride into the future, the news
We’ve just begun to hear, the timing
In our swinging romps, the dates
In the old Jardin, the splendor
Of ancient desert light, the flame
At the breakfast table, the fountain
With its immaculate flow of water,
The sky ever-blue in the immense sky,
The keen equilibrium of bodies
Finding their own rhythms, the voices
Whispered in full esteem: I love you
Je t’aime, yo quiero, passing visions
Of just the right stress, the right sound
Spoken with rigorous outreach
The way the heart ranges toward heat
And the renewing breadth of forgiveness,
The dawning memory of our stories
Begun how many ages ago
Begun with a launching pride
From the flesh of our mothers
The vibrant force of fatherly will,
The love destined & soaring
Over the solid ends of the earth
