‘Hurry-up, please
it’s time

Spiderwoman and her twin
created the human tribes
--Navajo legend

‘Hurry-up, please
it’s time

This poem is dedicated
to the handsome young
transient
sleeping by the dumpster
my young son passed
on his way to work
--weathered, tanned
and beaten
by the desert sun

...

‘Hurry-up, please

The only truth worth noting
is policy

There is little or no difference
between the Pragmatism of Wm James
and the Existentialism of
Camus and Sartre

At the outermost edges
of our cosmos
Initial Creation
begins
in the transcendental speed of space

‘Mistah, puleez hurry

I wear the quite reasonable but still fine
India boots inspired by the English occupiers
--some of the first taste of globalization

(although I have no funds
for Maseratis or mansions
--the “big ticket items
of the moneyed
opportunists/thieves
most of them fattening
at the groaning board of inflated federal
subsidies

Mistah…

One imagines there were some
of our early white pilgrims
with big hearts
settling the West

whose homogeneous culture
permitted them to completely assimilate
the Biblical world-view
,call God a “friend
and live
& die
under his guidance

or Proverbs, as it were

and the blacks who suffered slavery
would have seen
one of their descendants
seriously run for President

but such observation
quickly, in our system,
degenerates into God & Country, etc.

and we are never any closer
to generating a national policy
to deal with the reality of
at least 20% of the country
deserving to be the state’s responsibility
and the other 79% deserving
a socially just haven
of well-regulated free enterprise
that approaches globalization
putting national interests first
along with international justice

As Christ sd: I am not here for long
but the rich you have with you always

and I, grandson to a woman
of the Cherokee lands
(& McAlester, OK
assume no guilt in the matter
but recognize
reparations are in order

to those whose ancestors
transformed the Southern swamps
that no white could

and for which no native discerned any
necessity

and there was no great leap forward
as a result
in the basic and commonly base
human nature
one still confronts

and, anyway, it may well be true
we have crossed the point-of-no-return
in global warming

(Greenland and Antarctica melting

making it hard-put for the species
to survive

If not
,we must try to achieve
that normative balance
between capitalism and socialism

alas, in a culture
dead by t-v

We, too

(just as in tribal Africa

(and jaded France

once had authentic artists

(defined as those whose palette was
nothing less than the world

Perhaps “seed cultures
will survive

but at what cost to our
“good nature?

“I have to admit it’s getting betta’
getting betta’ all the time

Perhaps we could get behind Corbel
attempting to rectify the Dep’t of Interior’s books
of money owed the Native Americans

Of course, we long ago entirely forgot
the “Indians

having stripped them of
essentially their birthrights
,consigned to an impenetrable
bureaucratic Hell

That still
makes Fox hard to believe

So many!

I had not thought the media
had undone so many

“The New American Century

Not at all unlike the others that
preceeded it

They all retained before Bush II
the right of “Preemption
,certainly implicit from our actions

Many times
,if not most
striking other nations
even when there was no conjured threat
to u.s.

Rule on, Rambo

We never learn

2 We are always
at the border of
tomorrow

and its pleasures,
many purely imaginary

away from the horrors of
our country

,and the atrocities of, say,
ICE privately-run detention centers
where the people are mostly
worse off than street dogs

but that border where, if scored
,guitars sing

somehow in the black space
of our minds

:the true color of the universe

(for me it is always
flamenco

Muslims and Jews
in stacked heels
in the traditional
dance moves
,stomping sharply
to the rhythm

…is that too good
and goes on forever
out of our Phoenix-dust

(or wish it did

rising again and again
,always improved
,as if in an idealized Vitalist world

While, in fact, we’ve only succeeded
in becoming the world’s
biggest bore,
endless laughing stock
enduring its ridicule,
and the world’s
most dangerous,
to boot

Shoulda’ stayed home
and tended our garden

instead, it’s a nearly
endless list
of woes

But then, too, the
portrait of man
is a twisted
puzzle
…a difficult world—I
make my home in

3 The “New Civilization
and the undiscovered lands

We are, in creation, the “New Civilization
,by a nano-second
,second in order of existence
to black matters’ undiscovered lands

where in various “bubbles
similarly big-bang created universes exist

that end, as ours, not in some superannuated
limbo, according to some speculators

but in that same power of space to be found
in the lingering radio noise of its emergence

Perhaps P.S. is a better description of
us generally, emphasizing
u.s.

& are old only in the sense
of primitive
and cruelty to others
of our species

(At least, John Edwards
spoke out for the impoverished

,which we pretend to be
unable to correct

rather than simply
giving them
monies

Christ remains
having evenly distributed
the loaves and fishes
,whom we daily crucify

perhaps it was he
,carbon-black traveler
from those undiscovered lands
who once stood before me
with a Mona Lisa smile

but does not weep for us—and
was even more swiftly gone
into that near-limitless speed
of space

while there has been, here
the evolution into consciousness
,though few have done
much constructive with it

I will not be entirely idle this fall
:unlike those whom
I’ve castigated before
for failing to vote
their interests
,I will vote for Obama

—hoping the election
isn’t rigged for McCain
,that Acorn and the so-called Bradley Effect
aren’t merely red-herrings
being floated by the Republicans
and their media frontmen
as cover for their own massive
voter fraud

I will vote for O
and hope he is truly that
transformational figure
Colin Powell promises he is

—despite the massive debacle
anyone would face
after the last eight years

Sure, Clinton and Bush I toyed
with the Mid-East fires

—and did much damage in the process

,but there was an historical
warning line, if you will
,they would not cross

Is there really anything left to say
about our W?

Winter is icumin’ in
,laude sing goddam
